Barbara Kellogg

In describing her friend as an artist, the author and poet May Sarton clarified, “If to be an artist is to feel the need to find expression for life in some form outside the self.”

Barbara Kellogg’s expression over the years has included her work as a leadership consultant and psychologist to help others find their voices, occasional journal watercolors to record the colors and feelings of the day, and the laying down of layers of threads to give expression to a mood. “These ‘artistic’ endeavors have helped settle me down, capture the beauty of nature or whimsey, or find a way to honor those I love. The ‘My Little Sister’ dolls were first created as comfort for my sister, Amy, and were followed by dolls to reflect the strengths and interests of the many women in my family.”

Barbara values women’s hearts, characters, and gifts – past and present – to guide us through our lives. With a nod to her five sisters and honoring the relationship of sisters everywhere – real, imagined, or complicated – Barbara’s ‘My Little Sisters’ dolls can be a sister to tell stories to and share secrets with. The dolls are whimsical and a bit flawed, like all of us.
