Shifting your view can help you to turn a disempowering attitude into one that totally shifts how you relate to any situation. Practice these steps:
- Name the topic you are looking to have a more empowered attitude about (Ex: Taking on a project to eliminate injustice)
- Name the current attitude you have (Ex: Why am I even doing this? Who do I think I am, anyway?)
- Name 5 other attitudes you COULD experiment with in this situation.(Ex: It is just an experiment / I am strong enough for failure / I am strong enough for success / Every drop in the pool raises the water – I can be a drop / I am like a firecracker ready to go off. / I have power I have not discovered yet.)
- Choose one of your new viewpoints to experiment with for the next 24 hours
- Set up a structure to practice stepping into your new viewpoint. You will forget, and need to re-decide. Maybe you want to commit to trying it on every morning for a week? A month? A lifetime?
You can literally decide, and decide again that you are already brave.
